It's raining, a big parrot has just done a couple of circuits around a small room, alarmed by an exploding lamp and now this.

Hmmmm......2a-3a cube, I totally got it wrong!

The answer lies in the question. What are you doing messing with MWC, windows of opportunity and all that old mother Hubbard and getting it wrong. For most players such knowledge is only used in analysis mode. It is very interesting stuff, There are short cuts to aid the mathematical gymnastics required to make one capable of applying the knowledge efficiently over the board. Apply your energies to playing good positional backgammon. Master the cube which is far far more important than MWC at this stage of your backgammon career. The answer to your problem is simplicity itself, Use COMMON SENSE. You are obviously aware that the likelihood is you will win the game and maybe the match from this position with Gammon chances. That being the case you are obviously aware that you may lose. I suspect you did lose from this position hence the question. By offering a cube you are holding a gun to the head of your opponent and who will send it straight back. The match is on the line for both. When you get to Vegas it may be a good idea to get your head round MWC. Of course such a position as this would be double take at different match scores. Got to go the parrot needs some TLC.
