Roll Vs Roll: Match Play

Equipped with pen, paper, a match equity table, and a few minutes of clock time, I can calculate the correct cube action for Blue.

OTB in a clocked match, how do practical players do this?

I realize that by re-cubing to 8, Blue can use all his points whereas White has overage of 2. I was thinking there may be some rule of thumb that tries to quantify this overage in terms of how early Blue can double relative to White's take point.

Match to 11, White leads 5-2
Blue on roll. Cube action?
