I put together a perfectly acceptable arrangement for less than £35 based on Ben Friesen's suggested combination of webcam and high boom mic stand using Amazon and Ebay.

I would advice that you use a mic stand with telescopic vertical pole extending to height of at least 1.7m, and that you use an adjustable angled mic holder which can attach to the webcam securely with tightened cable ties. I also use a 5m USB extension cable.

A friend in Austria uses a similar arrangement costing about 40 Euros.
