I see many advantages to the 18/10 play: Blue is dominating the position in all aspects; 18/10 leaves the blots in front of the pt that White is reluctant to break and should wait with it for most hitting numbers; even if White rolls a number that hits and covers, he is still out-boarded, behind in the race, and have three blots (assuming no joker); 18/10 also keeps a healthy spare on the mid-pt such that Blue is ready for an exchange of hits without needing to break the mid-pt or make the needed 8 or 9 pt (so you can run home in later stages of the game) in following rolls without breaking the mid-pt.

I think the score makes the play even clearer since Blue is happy with the increased volatility ATS given that he is dominating the position.

18/10 is my play.
