I would not hit and wait for a better sequence that hits and makes the 3 pt. The reason I would wait is based on White's game plan. With the no hitting play if White rolls a 2 he should not advance the anchor at this late stage because he is leaving an exposed blot on the ace pt which is likely to be attacked in anyway. Therefore, without a joker White's best chances of wining and/or saving the gammon are by keeping the ace pt and hoping that Blue won't get the dice to point on his head. Consequently, blue should not sacrifice sending a deep spare to the 2 pt as the battle for the 3 pt isn't as fierce as it may appear initially.

8/5 is my play waiting for the dice to allow me to make the 3 pt more naturally.
