Its incredible how that happens. The other piece of magic that occurs is that when you give someone that odd number, in order to make your change work better, they then proceed to just enter that you paid the largest bill you gave them. i.e. in your case, they enter $20.00, then give you the change from that, and the excess that you handed them back. Idiocy. Why can't they just enter the amount handed to them on the register?????

I've almost entirely given up on it, and just take all the change and shove it in a giant jar for my kids.
