Clearly, White's best play is 24/20 13/8. How should this be nactated? As Mike points out, the correct answer is Z (reverse split). Carelessly, I chose "S" by the convenience clause. That is a misapplication of the clause, allowable only when there are no legal plays available that move the big number on the far side and the small number into the outer board. Here, there are two such plays:
.....S (Split) = 20/15 15/11 (i.e., 20/11)
.....s (Split) = 20/15 15/9For completeness, there are two plays in the Z family:
.....Z (reverse split) = 24/20 13/8 (the play made in the sequence)
.....z (reverse split) = 20/16 13/8Nack
