When are you too good to double in a match?

I agree with Timothy and Phil, but would like to add that it is good to have a sense of gammon values at common scores and cube values. For example, at 4-away 4 away, owning a 2-cube, what are your gammon wins worth? That is something you need to know.

In general, people are too conservative when playing on for the gammon, both with the checkers and especially with the cube.
