I don't find this to be a convincing argument for requiring a cup with a baffle box. A clumsy, unskilled cheat might have marginally more trouble swapping dice in and out while having to deal with a cup, especially if he can't smoothly palm the dice in the same hand that he's holding the cup with, but for a skilled cheat, the extra piece of equipment actually presents more options for misdirection.
