If we clear the 7pt now, then it will be very difficult to clear the 8pt later without leaving a direct shot. If we make the 5pt, then we have reasonably good chances of not leaving another shot. Making the 5pt will also increase our gammons, and it's gammon go. White has only a four-point board at the moment. I would pay now. 8/5 6/5.
