The race getting closer means we will not be able to comfortably keep the three checkers back. If we stay back and the back one doesn't run smoothly we will have to hurt our home board and note that 5s and 6s will probably be moved on our side or worse have to leave the anchor and give two blots.

For the other 5's I want to keep a spare on the 13 and there may be some immediate hitting going on which is why I like making the 1 point. My feelings about that half are much less strong than they are about importance of advancing the anchor.

For those who want to stay back what is your plan for the checker on the 24 point. Do you connect with a 3 right away if possible?
