Teaching Backgammon to childeren ?

I would consider maybe teaching them Trouble first at around age 3 or 4. Then show them backgammon after they've gotten the hang of Trouble. The games have pretty similar themes. They both involve moving pieces based on dice rolls, sending pieces back to the start once hit, and the object is to get all of your pieces home.
