62S-xxx-66 and Nactation

I happen to be passing through (somewhat rare these days) and saw the subject header. I concur with Mike's explanation of the G (G-underline) family. And you are correct, Igor, that if this position had third- and fourth-ranked plays in the same family, they would be nactated G (italic capital), and g (italic lower case), respectively.

Your comment/speculation about G. (G-dot) rankings would also be correct, except there is no G. family. It is the BEACON letters alone that have dotted variants (see pp. 100 and 103 of the tutorial). Those dotted letters are indeed member-ranked in the manner you suggest.

It is worth noting that with other 62S-xxx-66 positions where Blue has not been hit (i.e., White's play was 52S, 32Z, 32S, 43Z, 31P, 42P or 53P), Blue's best move is Z (suggested by Tim and Mike), second best is G, and g is third best. (That is, 13/7 beats 11/5, and 8/2 is terrible.) It is only with 62S-32U-66 (diagrammed below) that g goes from blunderful to barely edging out Z (by virtue of leaving no direct shot).
