GNUbg had experimental support for it back in 2003 and around 2007 it was removed. I do not know the reason why it was removed. One problem would have been that the maintainers (which can change from year to year) would require a copy of it in order to maintain proper support. My best guess with GNUbg - it came down to lack of proper maintenance.
