good points all. But...

All the arguments raised against seeding are valid. These are all negatives to seeding. But if you only look at one side of an argument the glass is always half empty.
First, seeded players are not getting an unfair advantage. They are getting an advantage that they have earned by hard work and successful performance to deserve the honor and right to be given a seeded place. Honoring and recognizing the top performers is something that raises the dignity of the game or sport and encourages all of the rest of us to seek to attain that level some day. The more we make celebrities of our stars the better it is for the game internally and externally. And then when a lower player like myself or Odis is able to beat one of the seeded players it is even more exciting and more of an accomplishment.
Yes, people get pissed off if someone is seeded for political reasons and someone is dumb enough to tell someone that was the reason, but a committee will help lessen that and.. Many people get pissed off simply because it is s change. Nobody got pissed off in those other games I played in (and ran many tournaments by the way) except the occasional person who felt he should have been seeded, and I responded to every one the same way: Prove me wrong!
If every tournament was seeded people will get used to the idea. Again, while I agree with many of the arguments against it, I believe the benefits outweigh the negatives by a lot.
As for the bye--hasn't Mochy and Falsfel and ray and others who have won the most deserve those byes? What better way to award a bye than by earning it?
