NTK,,yes and yes for a typical BG tourney where all pay to enter they should never be seeding.

Colin "And what about events where the participants have qualified through some criteria, like end of year/season tournament: shouldn't 1 play 8, 2 play 7 etc (followed by 1 or 8 v 4 or 5 in the next round)?"

NTK,,Now that is a different animal and I'm OK with seeding there since the season has been a long Swiss basically. However, I'd not like to have to pay additional entry fee(s) to enter those playoffs if they are seeded. Paying one fee for the season and the seeded playoffs, should I qualify would be OK with me.
