Backgammon Masters Series (AT) — Pilot Tournament, December 2014, Schwaz

Venue: Schachklub Postpark, 6130 Schwaz, Austria

Date: 13 and 14 December 2014

I am very pleased to announce that the first BMS Tournament was completed successfully, under Tournament Director Bernard Mayr, with full match recordings for the six participants (10 rounds of 7 point matches over 2 days).

After the first day, having played 6 rounds of the duplicated round robin event, Heimo Löbler and Bernhard Mayr were tied for first place, followed closely by Fritz Rattinger and Wolfgang Bacher. At the end of play on the second and final day Heimo managed to pull ahead of Bernhard, to fix the places for winner and runner-up of the tournament, with Fritz in third place.

Congratulations to all participants for being the pioneers of BMS Group tournaments. The next stage is completion of transcriptions from the 30 matches played and then analysis through XG. The results will be posted as soon as possible, but inevitably it will take several days.

I will make a separate post giving information on the development and launch of the Backgammon Master Series (BMS) Group.
