Backgammon should be modled completely like bridge

Wonderful. We need to keep trying new ideas and formats and see what works best. Even the best ideas will not take hold immediately, as people need to understand them and to adjust to change, and sometimes great ideas fail simply because they are not marketed properly. So what I am saying is whether this is a great success or not, give it time and let's keep trying new things.
What we do know is that there are millions of people out there who play backgammon and love the game who do not show up to live events, and we need to look at more ways to get them there. I believe this is an excellent start.
Relative to bridge, I believe that is the best model for tournament play in terms of awarding points for coming, for victories, and for not making the game about money, but about status and points and the joy of good competition. To do this seems to threaten those who run tournaments for money and those who are there to try to win money. They fear that by growing the game for the pleasure of playing will hurt money play. I believe that is short-sighted....the more people playing for points and pleasure, the bigger the pool will be for money tournaments and money play, which can and should co-exist (possibly even combined in the same events).
