Having spares on the 6pt/8pt/9pt is very flexible because it gives you spares on points that are 1 apart, 2 apart, and 3 apart. Having spares on the 6pt/8pt/10pt is not nearly as flexible. Still, I would clear the midpoint here just because it's a golden opportunity to do so. The main alternative seems to be 13/10(2) 8/5(2), which doesn't look too bad, and I think will win more gammons but fewer games.
