In Response To: Follow Up to Timothy's Follow Up to My... (Stick)

Like in Timothy's position, three candidate plays cross my mind: 11/5(2), 13/10(4), and 13/10(2) 8/5(2).

13/10(2) 8/5(2) makes the attractive 5-point, but leads to a quite inflexible position which is characterised by too many points (tmp). So, it might be difficult for Blue to clear all these points in a safe way. Moreover, this play increases the degree of contact between Blue and White, and with regard to his remarkable lead in the pipcount, Blue isn't eager to have so much contact with White.
As for the pipcount, 13/10(4) looks good, on the one hand, because it clears the midpoint, but I am a bit concerned about the two gaps (5- and 9-point) on the other. It appears a bit too porous to me. White has a high-anchor position with an additional backchecker serving as a "guard". In positions like that, I think it is important to make the points between the anchor and the "guard" as soon as possible in order to devaluate the "guarding" function of this backchecker.
11/5(2) is my favorite play, since it makes the valuable 5-point, and refrains from making other additional points which have to be cleared afterwards. The resulting position is well-known, and I would be pleased to play from this position.
