I think it is regarded as bad sportsmanship. If I understand the UKBGF Tournament Rules correctly, they even forbid it in Section 3.4(iv).

Another case which often happens: Your opponent ships the cube, but does not hit the clock. Do you sit there now for minutes, pretending to ponder the take?
