Not reminding your opponent to press the clock

Your point is valid and no offense is taken. I agree that I shouldn't have picked the dice. However, in straightforward bear-off stage it is almost a behavioral instinct. I admit that after picking the dice and realizing Paul didn't hit the clock (i.e. the two seconds that I froze) I considered my options. Under the path of not saying anything I considered putting the dice back or just waiting patiently with the dice already in my cup. I thought that if I want to take advantage of the situation, the latter is preferred as it is less revealing. Nonetheless, I quickly dismissed this option and decided to remind Paul to hit the clock for the reasons I mentioned.
For the theoretical discussion - Had I waited patiently with the dice in my cup and let Paul run out of time, would he have a strong case to defend himself? I am not familiar enough with the rules, and think that an experienced TD should answer that. I would guess that he would have a good counter-argument which leaves us in gray territory and require a TD, possibly a committee, to think this through.
