This is not used in our chouette, but what if the partner just locked in for whatever the current cube is, for the rest of the game. So, in your example the box would reship the four cubes to 4 and be responsible for 12 pts while the partner is responsible for 4 pts, and all the remaining cube decisions would be handled solely by the box. Just an idea.
