Tim, your reply did not address Tom's question. I understand your point about the idiosyncratic nature of ethics in games, but I am still curious about your actual behavior. I think it reveals a lot about what your personal ethics in backgammon (as opposed to your intellectual positions) really are.

Praytell then, do you simply ignore an incorrect starting position when it is to your advantage to do so? Have you ever had the opportunity to let an opponent's time tick away when he makes a clock error? If so, how did you deal with it?

In my play, I have had both of these occur. Even in a non-legal-moves setting, I have always corrected such errors when an opponent makes them.
