If the information in Bob Wachtel's book is anything to judge by, XG3β will probably play the containment significantly better than XG2 will.

But anyway, closing out a single checker would be a drop even if White had four checkers off. So I think this should technically be a double. It's probably a take at least in practice since Blue has a lot of difficult checker-play decisions coming up.
