Not reminding your opponent to press the clock

I've played a hell of a lot of BG, but I have never used a clock. I presume that lifting one's dice still ends one's move. Do clock rules specifically state that the opponent may not roll until the previous player stops her clock? Or, can the opponent simply roll as soon as the previous player lifts her dice? These rules would seem to provide resolution to the question. If the clock must be stopped, before the opponent rolls, then the opponent's roll would not be valid if performed beforehand. Opponent would be required to wait. However, if opponent can roll immediately after the previous player picks up her dice, then the moral dilemma may arise.
