Race, position, threats - the atoms of backgammon. That is what Joe Sylvester taught the French in an off season backgammon seminar on an Atlantic resort in the early 1990s. Race, position, threats = RPT = Repetez! We have the race, we have 4 point board vs 2, we have him on the bar with only 2 points open, we have a tripple shot at 2 blots. He will soon be left without communication. Is that not enough to double? Would he take without a wink? What about volatility? What about Kit's law? I am sure Kit would double. And I know some would pass:) and not value enough their 4 prime and golden anchor. How can one compare these without a rollout?
