Blue on roll, cube action?

eXtreme Gammon Version: 2.19.206.pre-release

In effect, Blue has to hurdle 3 five-point blocks to escape his back checkers. He also has 3 cracking numbers right now. Assuming he does not roll one of them, he has 16 pips he can waste before he cracks. On average, does it take between 2 and 3 rolls to jump over a five-point block when you are positioned at the front edge? Does that mean, on average, that Blue cracks?

Against that, we should give Blue credit for the gammons he will win when he does escape. Is he approaching 20%? We must subtract something from that, however, for the gammons White will when he closes Blue out.

When I first looked at this, I thought the double was fairly clear, and the take was the question. Now I wonder how this can even be a double.

No double.

Mike
