Attempt at clarification

In Response To: Attempt at clarification (Timothy Chow)

In the past people went to tournaments for the side action. Today people go to tournaments for the tournament itself. Hopefully that's a good short and sweet answer to your original question. The reason? Bots. We can't blame the outcome on short term luck anymore. We know without question who the better players are. That kills the action.
