NY Metro--great fun

I loved this tournament, the people who ran it, and the general atmosphere, location, and format. It was my first time to New York and it will be high on my list in the future.
Even if I didn't have 10 percent of Carter I would be happy for him winning. And even if I couldn't take some credit for Tuvya's education, I would be thrilled with his win in the Masters. I doubt if anyone with as little experience and time in the game as Tuvya has ever won a masters....most don't even have the guts to enter without a few years of experience and higher PR's. And he took care of Victor and MCG in the semis and finals!! You got to give this kid some props for guts and for all his hard work on his game, and most of all for his fine and fun attitude. People complain about not enough young people in the game, and we are finally getting a few like Tuvya (Ben Friesen comes to mind) that are not only working hard to become good players...they have great attitudes and add to the game just by their presence.
Does everyone know how hard Bill Riles and Karen Davis and several others behind the scenes like Tara and Justin and others work to keep the USBGF growing? I don't know the numbers, but a hell of a lot of people joined or renewed their USBGF memberships in New York thanks to the money added and a promotion we did for the novices. The more members the USBGF has the more the organization can do to generate public interest in the game, promote the game, and add sponsors. Thanks to Bill and Karen especially for all you have done.
Michelle and Jeb both gave a lot of support, and I second Michelle's remarks about the staff....we all know Lynn is great, but the ladies she had working never stopped smiling, joking with the players, and being kind and friendly, even when a few people were being jerks (there's always a few in the crowd).
Great job. Good warmup for San Antonio.
Okay, so I am sure people are waiting for me to say something negative. Here it is. They seeded the players in the Calcutta and I immediately said I thought they made a big mistake not seeding Frank Talbot....I won't name names but there were several seeded players, including me, that I would never dream of seeding ahead of Frank. And Frank proved I was right by taking second. I am, however, very suspicious that Frank might have thrown the match as Carter took him to dinner at a very nice restaurant after the tournament and that may well have been part of the payoff.
