I am pleased to announce that the Executive Board of the Backgammon Masters Awarding Body (BMAB) has voted unanimously to an acceptance process (given below) which has enabled Grandmaster (Class 3) titles to be awarded to the following nine players:

Matt Cohn-Geier (USA)

Michihito “Michy” Kageyama (Japan)

Petko Kostadinov (USA/Bulgaria)

Athanasios Katsios (Greece)

Masayuki “Mochy” Mochizuki (Japan)

Yoshiyuki Nakamura (Japan)

Kiyokazu Nishikawa (Japan)

Dmitriy Obukhov (USA/Latvia)

Paul Weaver (USA)

Also, Frank Simon (Germany) has been awarded the title of Master (Level 1)

Congratulations to all the new title holders! It is expected that will be joined by a number of the top Danish players soon.

ACCEPTANCE PROCESS - Inclusion of Pre-BMAB Recorded Matches within the BMAB Database:

Where matches have been recorded in a fair manner, devoid of cherry-picking, then it is reasonable, and sensible to use these results to populate the BMAB database. For the matches to be valid, they must either be pre-designated (as in the Mochy 4.0 Club or German BG-CBiD Club) or from wholly continuous sources (where all matches from a tournament or section of tournament have been recorded). Also, all matches must be clocked, live and be relevant historically. Moreover, the players must give their approval for their inclusion into the BMAB Database. For the wholly continuous sources, only players with average PRs of 4.0 or less, measured over the last 3 years, with experience points of 100 or more should be considered, from the following sources, known to satisfy the required criteria:

1. Danish Live XG Masters Tournaments from 2012, 2013 and 2014

2. PR Bracket matches from the Dual-Duel Tournaments in San Antonio 2013 and 2014

3. Giants Invitational Tournament in Chicago in 2013
