Random.org change / BG bots / Software Developers

This is for anyone (including the bot developers) that there has been a significant change at www.random.org in the last little while. https is now required to retrieve random values. It appears that most bots only handle at the moment.

GNUbg received this bug report today:

https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?43997

GNUBG produces random values but they are always the same values.

Recently Brett Meyer asked about Random.org and XG. I gave instructions but didn't actually test it. It appears XG will hang and then crash when using the random.org dll. Cursory test suggests (not officially confirmed) that this may also not work as expected on BgBlitz.

I have sent an email to the main bot developers, but this is for any software developer that uses random.org - you may wish to ensure you use https to retrieve the values.

I'll have a fix this week for GNUbg. Until then any GNUbg users should consider using Mersenne Twister.
