That's a very reasonable and helpful advice. Thank you! I think there are some types of positions in the middle game where the doubling window is quite narrow. The current position we are talking about might perhaps have such a narrow doubling window? In those positions I'm inclined to miss a double far too often. So, under these circumstances I will take doubling as a compromise into consideration in future.
And yes, you are right, our position is still very fine: ahead in the race, anchor on the barpoint, blocking a Prime Factor's straggler... Suddenly I like the idea of doubling :)
(which does not count for the current vote of course.)
