What is the "Robertie Position"?
I found what he said about randomness in Chess very insightful. Once again he showed he knows something.
I regard myself as someone who loves music not less than anyone else. I also hate being distracted, while playing. Nonetheless, if my opponent is wearing headphones or playing with his cellphone or whatever, which makes me suspicious of him trying to cheat, I'd consider it as a bigger distraction than the sheer noise level of the playing room. Actually I get the biggest thrill from the sound of rattling dice, every time I enter a playing room.
I think, honest players should agree to a ban on headphones as a sacrifice to keeping the game clean.
The argument that there are other smarter and sophisticated ways to cheat is not an argument, it is sophistry. However, people who know those ways, should definitely go ahead, and tell all of us how it works, so that we are aware of those methods. You won't be teaching crooks how to cheat, you'd be protecting honest players.
