Isight question

Hi Mochy,
Your stack penalty, for a third checker on the 2pt, is correct. The gap penalty is relative. A penalty is assigned only when your opponent does not have the same gap. White gets a 1-pip penalty for the gap on his 5pt. Because White and Blue both have a gap on the 6pt, there is no penalty.
Table 5, on page 18 of the original Isight paper, compares the Keith Count with the Isight Method, giving results for race lengths every ten pips (10, 20, 30, etc.). It concludes as follows:
All adjusted pip counts, including the Isight method, are considerably more errorprone for low pip counts (roughly for a race length below 30). For these, analytical solutions are still best, but unfortunately can be very difficult and time-consuming to calculate over the board. Having said this, table 5 shows that the Isight method has a smaller average error (in terms of equity loss) than the Keith method for a race length up to 80 pips. From 80 pips up to 110 pips the Keith method is slightly more accurate, whereas in very long races (longer than 110 pips) again the Isight method has the edge. For races up to 10 pips, from 21 pips to 80 pips, and above 110 pips the Isight method is also less likely to result in a wrong cube decision.
I posted a summary of the Isight Method in December, 2014.
Hope this helps.
Mike
