Thank you very much. I agree with you about players having good grace and manners in the story you told. Even if you did play as badly as he thought (and this I very much doubt), he should have been very grateful to have had so much positive equity in the final and take it stoically when he lost.

These situations where extreme strategies pay off are not necessarily justified however because really its like carrying out a single-game rollout. If the same situation arose 100 times or more, would the extreme strategy pay off better than the more boring normal strategy seems to be a better way of looking at it.
