Sounds like a typical Mochy match: Slow motion the first game, speed gammon the rest. I wonder how his error rating varies by time spent thinking?

That's what I was thinking as I watched. Mochy turned on the speed gammon after a break. When play was restarted, Mochy had 3 minutes exactly in the bank. He finished the match with more time than his opponent Petko!

I am not sure how his PR fares in the late match compared to the early part. It would be interesting to know.

Standard clock times are often more generous in Japan than they are in the U.S.A. I think the standard is 2:30 per match point. I have speculated that Mochy and other Japanese players might have trouble adapting to the shorter timings, but that doesn't make sense. The clock is right in front of you, so it should be reasonably easy to set an appropriate pace.
