VRR - Challenge

Thank you for explaining.

Though this methodology has potential, it seems clear that it isn't very practical right now for the following reasons:

1. To carry out an analysis it is necessary to manually transfer single match values to some specially designed spreadsheet, database or program, involving an inordinate amount of time for a large database of players. There needs to be some automation like in XG where batch analysis allows the analysis of the matches from a full tournament producing individual player profile files.

2. A VRR Elo system applied for various backgammon populations will not give a representative picture of the overall global population unless there is some process of normalisation.

3. Even if "1" and "2" issues are addressed it would appear that the reliability of the VRR method would not be superior to the PR method, and maybe significantly inferior because of the inherent variance of Elo systems. Personally, I think a normalised win-rate approach has more potential.

I note that Bob, Tim and Jason seem to have chosen not to respond to the challenge of providing a simple example of the application of the VRR methodology, in a 6 player round robin, presumably for practical reasons.
