Worst Superbowl Call - OT

Steve Mellen: I felt it was a defensible call. The 99% of the time that pass isn't intercepted, no one questions the decision; there is widespread results-oriented criticism because the worst-case scenario happened to occur this time.
I'm with Steve on this one. Nobody said anything critical about Carroll's decision at the end of the first half to go for a touchdown. If he had missed, the boo birds would have said, "How can you be in the red zone and not come away with SOMETHING? You absolutely have to kick a field goal. That was a terrible call."
One way to think about it is that 99% of the time when you don't get intercepted, you're essentially getting a free shot at scoring via the pass because you only have time for two rushing attempts either way (due to only having one time out).
The clock and timeout situation is important here.
Basically, I'm fine with people saying that they disagree with the call, but I don't see it as the worst call ever.
You know, Earnest Byner fumbled at the goal line. Nothing is a sure thing.
