Steve, yours is a very astute and balanced observation. Seattle was forced to use a time-out on the miracle catch play, because the players did not realize it was a catch, at first. With only one time-out, they had time for two runs or a pass and two runs. Three plays instead of two sounds best to me. The one thing I question is where you got your 1% interception figure. Passing into a tight area seems like that rate would be higher. Even it it was a few per cent higher, it was probably worth gaining the extra play. The other factor was the chance of holding on a pass play, but since this was an instant zip pass, it wan not much of one.

All in all, a very balanced observation! Want to play doubles sometime?
