San Antonio--Good and Bad

I haven't yet gone to the SA tournament - but as soon as it is reasonable for me to do so, I will be there, with bells on, making noise, winning matches, taking names, and hopefully beating up on any giants that want to get in the chou.
However, at Wisconsin, we have a priority list for all the events, which orders exactly what has priority over what. This allows the staff to consult with a list to send players to their next match, wherever it is.
This doesn't solve this type of problem, but it does help prevent it.
Other tournaments forbid you from entering side events while you are still alive in the main (masters, amateur jackpot and doubles excluded) - this is a good step.
From a directorial perspective, I would have start times for side events outside of the main event scheduling (and it *MUST* be scheduled). So if that means someone has to play their next round in whatever at 10.30pm or 8.30am, then so be it. To the players that complain about having to play late / early etc. Stop winning, then you don't have that problem.
At smaller tournaments (<32 players), sadly, a lot of the costs are recovered through raking the side events, so we rely on those a whole lot. We simply cannot do away with them without raking other events more heavily. Its not a good situation.
