In Response To: If a live-stream viewer sees an impropriety should he call the tournament director? (Marv Porten)

In golf the advent of HD super slow TV pictures has enabled TV viewers to sometimes pick up on rules imfractions which went unnoticed by the player and by his marker. Some TV viewers would act on the pictures and call in. These calls have led to several players being penalized or even disqualified if they had signed their scorecard before it was known that they had breached the rules.

Because not all players get an equal amount of air time this was perceived as a disadvantage for the best players. When calls were made about Tiger Woods, a new rule was introduced.

Now, according to the new rule players will not be penalized if the breach of rules was not something the players could have noticed with the naked eye.

When it comes to backgammon, I would treat streaming viewers similarly to normal spectators.
