In Response To: What Would the Ruling Be? (Stick)

In fact, the roll was 44, but Karen knocks the dice as she moves the checkers around. This is exactly what happened in the finals of the 2007 World Championship at Monte Carlo. In that case, the Director ruled based on the dice he saw on the table. This time, fortunately, there was a video that could be checked, and they got the roll right.

Absent video, the confidence Karen expresses that the original roll was 44 might weigh heavily in a Director's ruling. In the video, Phil admits freely that he did not see the roll, so with Karen as the only witness, there is not much of a dispute. The 54 on the table can be explained by assuming the dice were jostled. Still, the 54 must weaken Karen's assertion, so if she is certain the roll was 44, then she must say so strongly. If Karen, waffles for some reason, admitting that the roll could have been 54, then the Director must rule against her.
