Make the 9pt. I think the only way out of this is to attempt to counterprime. Getting to the edge of the existing prime is good, but you still have to hop out, and be missed, all the while hoping that opponent doesn't split into more dangerous positions with his back men.

Dumping a checker onto the 3pt is beyond the 'must make' 4pt, so don't do that. Putting another blot into the outfield just invites problems, and doesn't do enough to solve anything, but it at least gives you options.
