I recall that Belichick was queried after the game and said he made a mistake. Maybe his failure to call a TO actually hurt Seattle (gross, if not net) as they had to either use their own TO or be limited on their own upcoming playcalls. (I.e. with time you can run more, without it you must pass more.)

I'm not justifying the lack of a NE TO, but it's interesting how one side's decision can affect the opponent in possibly unexpected/unintended ways.

The standard coaching answer is "we didn't want to give the opponent an easy chance to compose themselves or modify their lineup." How much that is worth I don't know.
