In Response To: Mochy's blunder 05 (Stick)

I'm pleased to have contributed to the pool of knowledge.

More seriously though, is Mochy's search for an explanation as to why making the 5 point here is so clearly right ultimately a fruitless one? Unlike me of course, others have tried to analyse it. In a late bearoff, for example, we can work out that playing an ace one way rather than another gives a specific extra probability of winning the game, but does every bg position have an explanation as to the best play?

I remember when I was 14 or 15 staying behind after class to ask my Physics teacher a question, one that I was surprised hadn't been covered thus far in the course (it never would be). We knew what the speed of light was, but what was it's acceleration? He surprised me by saying that it didn't accelerate. When asked to justify this ("everything needed a run up...") he stated something like that it was either there, in which case it was moving at a constant speed, or it wasn't. I was not very happy with this reply, but ultimately perhaps, the answer to my follow up question as to why light didn't accelerate was simply that it doesn't.

Is making the five point correct here because it is?
