A LC makes sense to me if you were going to an event like Monte Carlo, where the schedule was something like one round per day and first prize was some hundreds of thousands, and not many side events were going on (tournaments, I hear, used to have chouettes instead of side events...but nowadays chouettes are a rare bird indeed). In that case the scheduling is relatively easy since the tournament is like 10 days long anyway and you would actually have a chance to win like a sizable sum (maybe 20-30kish?) if you happened to win.

These days even if you win the last chance it probably wouldn't cover a flight change fee. Losing in the finals is about the worst thing that can happen.
