There are always forfeitures at every LC. A lot of people must not really like it if they keep forfeiting.

The converse isn't necessarily true, though. If people play in the event, it doesn't mean that they really like it. I do so grudgingly because it is there, I paid for it already with my entry fee, and I have nothing else to do (no side events, no chouettes, no interesting lectures). I often plan on staying an extra day anyway so that I can play whatever side events I am in, mingle, etc. If I had planned on leaving Sunday I might just forfeit the LC. I do not plan on staying an extra day just in case I win the LC.

In San Antonio it wasn't a handful of people alive in side events on Sunday. I would guess it was about 20% of the field. That is hardly a tiny handful.
