So lets say that there's no LC

I don't have a problem with directors charging the same amount of rake/reg fees. I would happily pay just as much for an event that runs smoothly. Of course, as a player and attendee, I always prefer lower rakes, but I understand that a certain amount is needed to keep the world afloat. Still, if I have a choice between traveling to a 85% return tournament or a 97% return tournament with 30k added money, that is obviously no contest.
So, let's consider a typical ABT Sunday schedule:
9:00 AM Seminar
10:30 AM Last Chance starts
11:30 PM Main event resumes
12:30 PM More entries open for side events (blitzes, quickies, etc.) for those who have lost quickly in the LC
2:00 PM Side events fill, most finals start
6:30 PM After Tournament tournamentNow, let's consider a proposed alternative schedule:
11:00 AM Seminar
12:00 PM All events resume, side events open for more entries
12:00 PM 2nd Super & Limited Jackpot Start
12:00 PM Doubles starts
(JPs can continue as long as there are entrants who want to play for at least 2-3 hours)
2:00 PM Main Finals start
3:00 PM 2nd Super & Limited JP Finals
3:00 PM After Tournament tournament
6:30 PM Everything over, dinner, possible awards ceremony for larger events, etc.For the JPs, you can take as many entries as you want and fill as many brackets of 8 as possible. Let's say, as an example, that you only fill one bracket of 8. Say the Super JP is $400 with 95% return, and the Limited JP is $200 with 90% return. That translates to an immediate $320 for the TD. If 10% of the other players who would have played last chance enter more blitzes and quickies, that means that the TD is making about an extra $500 from Sunday events.
I think those are conservative estimates and it could be as much as $1k or more, but $500 is a reasonable if conservative estimate. The schedule looks a lot cleaner, at least from my perspective.
