Directors need to speak up

We (and that includes I) have a lot of opinions as to why tournaments are run the way they currently are: keep people in hotels, squeeze more value out of side events, run Calcuttas to take a rake.
I see all of one poster who I recognize as having run an ABT event: Jeb. David R.'s wife runs one so he gets partial credit as I know she values his input and he is aware of what is involved.
I do know from experience talking to both directors and (non-directing) players that there is a disconnect between the amount tournaments make (that means profit AND, yes, loss) and what players think goes on. And from reading this thread I also see evidence that some players think you just snap your fingers and a side event runs smoothly, with zero time for signing up players, doing a draw, reporting/recording results, and moving from match to match.
I know there are several ABT directors who read this forum, and I suspect most of them are reading this thread. Without players they can't run tournaments, but without directors we can't play in them, either.
Before we burst buttons over our perceived panaceas for solving every tournament's problems we need to here from the other side.
